Robot Platform Targets Sealing and Handling in Paint Shops
Dürr has introduced EcoRS Generation 2, a standardized robot platform for sealing, cleaning and handling processes in paint shops.
The series includes four models designed for different payload and reach requirements. Payload capacities range from 20 to 150 kg, with reaches of up to 3,100 mm.
Dürr developed the robots specifically for paint-shop processes. The company said the combination of robotics, controls and application technology supports path accuracy, repeatable material application and consistent seam quality, including fine-seam applications.
Internal motors for axes 3 through 6 and internal cabling reduce the robot’s interference contour and improve cleanability. The platform uses the same control technology as Dürr’s painting robots and integrates with the company’s DXQ architecture, allowing process and operating data to be evaluated across different parts of a line.
Standardizing the platform is also intended to reduce spare-parts variants and simplify planning, maintenance and troubleshooting. Those availability and cost benefits are company claims.
