Wood Coating Systems Target Production Damage and Oak Supply Constraints

Canlak Coatings has introduced two wood-finishing systems aimed at separate manufacturing challenges.
TUFF is a patent-pending conversion-varnish system developed to improve resistance to production-related nicks, dents and scratches on painted and stained wood products. The system is available in enamel and clear configurations and can be applied on flat lines, hang lines and through manual or robotic spray processes.
OakShift is a single-component waterborne system designed to give red oak a visual appearance closer to white oak. The single-coat treatment is intended to work within existing finishing lines and can be followed by staining and subsequent finishing steps.
Canlak developed OakShift in response to white-oak availability and cost pressures affecting wood manufacturers.
