Automated Mixing and UV-A Systems Target Faster Refinish Workflows

Axalta presented a group of connected automotive refinish technologies at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, including its Irus AutoDose color-dosing system and a UV-A repair system under the new Axalta Synergy ancillary-products brand.
The event’s official Axalta schedule listed separate Sept. 8 launch presentations for the Irus automation innovation and the Axalta Synergy UV-A system. The company described the launches as technologies intended to advance connected color management and help body shops work faster and more efficiently.
Irus AutoDose is designed primarily for medium-sized repair shops and complements the company’s fully automated Irus Mix platform. Its compact configuration is intended to fit into existing mixing-room workflows and can accommodate up to 12 toners at one time.
According to Axalta’s press information, the system can prepare complex color formulas within six minutes. It is designed for use with Cromax EZ+, Spies Hecker Hi-FLX and Standox Standoflow refinish systems.
Axalta Synergy brings cleaners, additives and UV-curing products together under one ancillary-products brand. The initial UV-A repair system includes the AXS504 one-component primer-filler, which the company says cures within one minute.
The AXS700 UV-A clearcoat is applied in 1.5 spray passes. Following a three-minute flash time, Axalta says it can be cured within one minute using a handheld UV-A lamp. The clearcoat can be applied by spray gun or aerosol, according to the company’s press information.
Axalta is positioning the UV-A system for spot repairs and smaller cosmetic damage. By moving those jobs through a dedicated rapid-repair process, body shops may be able to preserve spray-booth capacity for larger repairs. The materials reviewed did not specify when or whether Irus AutoDose or the Axalta Synergy UV-A products will become available in the United States.
Automated color dosing and UV-A curing are relevant to automotive refinish operations because they can reduce manual process variation, shorten repair cycles and preserve booth capacity. Explore PCI’s automotive refinish coverage.
