Sun Chemical Colors & Effects Gains EU Customs Authorization

Sun Chemical announced that Colors & Effects GmbH has obtained Authorized Economic Operator customs simplifications status, known as AEO-C. The authorization took effect June 28, 2026.
The designation recognizes customs compliance, recordkeeping and internal controls, financial solvency and professional competence. Sun Chemical said it supports the entity's role as a reliable partner in international trade.
Marc Dumont, vice president of Color Materials EMEA, said the authorization supports more efficient customs processes and greater supply-chain reliability. The status applies to the named GmbH legal entity, rather than constituting a blanket certification of every Sun Chemical or DIC operation.
Under the European Commission's AEO program, customs simplifications status is distinct from the AEO-S security and safety designation. Eligible operators may also hold both authorizations.
Potential benefits include easier access to customs simplifications, fewer physical and document-based controls relating to the authorization, priority when controls are required and the ability to request a particular control location. AEO status is recognized throughout the European Union.
The authorization does not certify pigment or coating performance and does not remove customs obligations. Its relevance is to the management of cross-border movements and the reliability of supporting compliance processes.
Customs-process recognition is relevant to distribution and coatings supply chains that depend on predictable international shipments of raw materials.
