Brenntag Expands Specialty Alumina Distribution in Latin America

Brenntag has signed a distribution agreement with Almatis to expand access to specialty alumina products in Mexico and Latin America, excluding Brazil.
The agreement adds Almatis' high-performance alumina solutions to Brenntag Specialties' regional Material Science portfolio.
The products include calcined and other specialty alumina grades designed for demanding ceramic, polishing and specialty industrial applications.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between Brenntag and Almatis in the United States.
Brenntag said the expanded partnership will provide customers in the region with additional technical support, local service and access to specialty materials.
"We are very pleased to welcome Almatis to our Material Science portfolio," said Marcelo Barros, senior director, Material Science, Brenntag Specialties Latin America.
Barros said the agreement combines Almatis' specialty alumina expertise with Brenntag's regional distribution network and technical capabilities.
Chuck Compson, chief commercial officer of Almatis, said the companies have developed a longstanding relationship in the United States and expect the Latin American expansion to improve customer access and responsiveness.
Almatis supplies specialty alumina materials used in refractories, technical ceramics, polishing, thermal management and other industrial applications.
The company said its products support performance requirements involving durability, thermal characteristics and processing efficiency.
Brenntag operates through Brenntag Essentials and Brenntag Specialties, supplying industrial and specialty chemicals alongside technical, formulation and supply-chain services.
The company operates approximately 600 sites in more than 70 countries and generated sales of €15.2 billion in 2025.
Specialty alumina materials have applications in industrial formulations and surface-related technologies. The agreement expands regional availability of these materials through a major chemical distributor, although the announced portfolio primarily targets ceramics, polishing and other specialty applications.
