Nippon Paint Clear Coat Enters Mass Production Across Seven EV Models

Nippon Paint China's next-generation 2K high-gloss clear coat has entered mass production across seven vehicle models from Changan Automobile Group brands AVATR and Deepal.
The newest application is the AVATR 07L luxury SUV, which launched Aug. 8.
Nippon Paint says the clear coat was formulated to improve film smoothness, gloss and transparency while maintaining the consistency needed for automotive mass production. The formulation and leveling behavior are intended to minimize surface irregularities while maintaining film build and color depth.
The coating has now been adopted across seven models from the two Changan electric-vehicle brands, giving the technology a broader production track record than a single-model launch.
Moving a new clearcoat technology across multiple production vehicles provides a stronger signal of manufacturability than a laboratory or pilot-stage announcement. Follow PCI's Automotive Coatings coverage for more OEM coating technology.
