Nippon Paint Details Coating System Used in Semiconductor Production Line

Nippon Paint China has detailed the coating systems used in the core production area of Northwest China's first 8-inch semiconductor chip manufacturing line.
The first phase of the Shaanxi Province facility began operating by the end of 2025 following an investment of RMB 3.2 billion. The line has a stated monthly production capacity of 50,000 wafers.
Semiconductor facilities place unusually high demands on coatings because airborne particles, static electricity, volatile emissions, equipment movement and repeated traffic can affect manufacturing conditions.
Nippon Paint supplied an anti-static self-leveling flooring system designed to limit static accumulation while supporting heavy equipment and repeated traffic.
Walls, columns and structural components received a water-based epoxy system. Nippon Paint says the smooth, seamless surface helps reduce particle adhesion and simplify cleaning.
The company also supplied a dirt-resistant exterior finish intended to withstand the dusty environment surrounding the industrial site.
Nippon Paint says the coating system in the core manufacturing area was designed to help maintain long-term cleanliness equivalent to ISO Class 3.
Semiconductor manufacturing shows how coatings are moving deeper into high-control industrial environments where electrostatic behavior, cleanability, durability and contamination control all matter. Follow PCI's Industrial Coatings coverage for more specialized manufacturing applications.
