The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, announced plans to idle a 91,000-metric-ton per-year epichlorohydrin production unit in Freeport, TX, for an indefinite period. The unit, which the company said is the smallest of three epicholorhydrin units in Freeport, will be idled "until there is a resumption in demand." The company also operates epichlorohydrin-production facilities in Stade, Germany.

The company also announced the launch of a new website offering information about the company's PRIMACOR copolymers, described as a thermoplastic resin used in flexible packaging and other applications, including powder coatings. Potential coatings applications are reported to include tie-coats or primers; abrasion-resistant coatings; paper and paperboard coatings; metal coatings; glass coatings and laminates; heat-sealable coatings; and others. The site is located at www.dowprimacor.com.
