GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Environmental Coatings Inc. said it has acquired industrial-coatings product technology and rights to customer bases in New Jersey, Illinois and Wisconsin from Akzo Nobel Coatings.

The nearly $4 million acquisition expands Environmental Coatings' business in the markets for heavy and light-industrial coatings in the Midwest and East Coast regions, said the company's president, Michael McAllister. "This is a growth opportunity for us," he said.

Environmental Coatings is a manufacturer of powder coatings, high-solids enamels and waterborne and UV-cure coatings for the office furniture, door and shelving, and other industrial markets. The company specializes in custom coatings formulations.
