The Dow Chemical Co., Midland, MI, said its UCAR Emulsion Systems business unit will idle the latex production facility at Bayamon, Puerto Rico, by Jan. 31. The unit produces latex emulsions for use in architectural coatings. Customers will be supplied from other UCAR Emulsion Systems manufacturing sites. Future plans for the Puerto Rico site will depend on economic conditions and customer demand, the company said.
