FORT LEE, NJ - Sun Chemical Corp. completed the acquisition of Bayer Polymers L.L.C.'s high-performance organic pigment business. The acquisition includes the high-performance organic pigment manufacturing facilities at Bayer's Bushy Park, SC, site but does not include Bayer's organic-pigment production sites in Lerma, Mexico, and Leverkusen, Germany.

The business being acquired is a supplier of carbazole violet, perylene, quinacridone, and pthalocyanine pigments. Bayer said it will continue to produce other colorants, including Pigment Yellow 150 and iron oxide pigments.

In compliance with Federal Trade Commission requirements related to the acquisition, Sun Chemical said it has agreed to divest its existing perylene product line. Ciba Specialty Chemicals will assume Sun Chemical's inventory and toll-manufacturing functions involving perylene, the company said.
