Insl-x Superior Coating Systems has named Thomas J. Gooney Technical director, with responsibility for research & development functions at the company's Stony Point, NY, and Baltimore facilities.

The Supervisory Board of BASF AG has named Juergen Hambrecht to succeed Juergen F. Strube as chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, effective at the company's annual meeting scheduled for May 6, 2003. Eggert Voscherau was appointed deputy chairman and Kurt Bock was named chief financial officer, also effective May 6, 2003. Hambrecht joined BASF AG's Polymers Laboratory in 1976, and in 1985 was named to head Research and Purchasing at Lacke und Farben AG (now BASF Coatings AG). He was appointed president of the Engineering Plastics division in 1990 and president of the East Asia division in 1995. He was appointed to the Board of Executive Directors in 1997.

The Lightnin division of SPX Corp. has promoted Julie M. Hoover to Market Communications manager and named Carmen P. Clar Market Communications specialist for Lightnin Americas. The company's group of businesses include Premier Mill, Light-nin, Bran+Luebbe, and Plenty.

Industrial Environmental Coatings Corp., Pompano Beach, FL, has named Andrew Todd House Technical Coating specialist, Albert Knopf Western Sales manager and Ray Zachary Military Sales representative.

Degussa AG's Coatings & Colorants business unit announced a restructuring of its sales organization for the U.S. market. The action includes the consolidation of the business's Colorants sales regions into East and West regions, handled by John Kehmna and Dale Baker, respectively. The Resins and Crosslinkers sales staff has been expanded and now includes a Field Management position held by Chuck Hays.

Tremco Inc., an RPM Inc. business, has promoted Deryl W. Kratzer to president of the company's Roofing and Building Maintenance Division and Randall J. Korach to president of the Sealant/Waterproofing Division.

International Paper Co. has named Gerald C. Marterer vice president of Arizona Chemical, a supplier of tall oil and derivatives, castor oil derivatives, sebacic acid, isostearic and stearic acid, fatty and specialty esters, rosin-based resins, rosin esters, and polyamide resins.

Jim McAnaul has joined JBW Systems Inc., Westerville, OH, as National Sales director, with responsibility for marketing and sales of the JBW mixing system in North America.

Dirk Plas has joined BYK-Chemie as president of the company's North American organization, with responsibility for sales and marketing in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The company also named Jerry Kelley General Industrial Applications specialist. Kelley will retain sales responsibilities for paint additives in the North Central states, the company said.

Sovereign Specialty Chemicals Inc. has named Norman E. Wells Jr., a member of the company's board of directors since 1999, president and CEO. Robert B. Covalt will continue as chairman. Wells is managing director at AEA Investors, which owns a controlling interest in Sovereign, and was formerly president and CEO of Rand McNally.
