DuPont announced plans to start up a third production line for titanium dioxide (TiO2) at the company’s New Johnsonville plant.

WILMINGTON, DE — DuPont Co. announced plans to start up a third production line for titanium dioxide (TiO2) at the company’s New Johnsonville, TN, plant, with new product supply expected to enter the market during the third quarter. The expansion comes in response to growing demand, said Jeffrey L. Keefer, vice president and general manager of DuPont’s White Pigment & Mineral Products business.

“Demand has been extremely strong since the middle of 1999, especially in the plastics and coatings segments of our business,” Keefer said. “We are matching our capacity additions with this stronger market demand.”

DuPont is the world’s biggest supplier of TiO2, and operates manufacturing facilities in New Johnsonville; Edge Moor, DE; DeLisle, MS; Altamira, Mexico; and Kuan Yin, Taiwan.
