Frank L. Alley has joined Elementis Specialties as senior Western Sales representative for the Coatings and Inks Group, with responsibility for a territory that includes southern California, Arizona and southern Nevada. Alley was formerly a senior Account manager with the E.T. Horn Co. Elementis Specialties also named Cornelious Evans an Inside Sales representative and Rina Dey a Customer Service manager for the Coatings & Inks Group. Evans was formerly Global Customer Care specialist at Crompton Corp., and Dey was formerly a customer service representative and account manager at APW Thermal, and a researcher and writer at Bloomberg plc.

Graphic Sciences Inc., a Portland, OR-based manufacturer of coatings and ink, has promoted Jeff Ashburn to vice president, Sales and Marketing. He was formerly Southeastern Regional Sales manager. The company operates 12 manufacturing and service locations in the United States, and a joint venture in Mexico.

Karl Davis has joined the E.W. Kaufmann Co. as sales representative for New England. Davis was formerly Northeast Industry manager for Van Waters & Rogers Inc. and previously held sales, technical-service and laboratory positions with Hampshire Chemical.

Michael L. Gregus has joined The ChemQuest Group Inc. as director of the company's recently opened office in Crystal Lake, IL, near Chicago. Gregus has held sales and market-management positions with The Sherwin-Williams Co., McWhorter Technologies Inc., Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and Unocal Polymers. The ChemQuest Group, based in Cincinnati, is an international strategic management consulting firm specializing in the coatings, adhesives and sealants, and automotive industries.

Harcros Chemical Co., a national wholesale distributor of chemicals, has named Mark Hughey district manager of the company's Atlanta facility. Hughey, formerly a Harcros sales representative in Arkansas, will direct operations, sales and vendor partnerships for customer markets in Georgia, parts of South Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Harcros, an Elementis company, is a distributor and manufacturer of specialty surfactants, defoamers and emulsifiers.

Shaun Julian has joined E.M. Sullivan Associates, King of Prussia, PA, as a Technical Sales representative, with responsibility for new business development in northern New Jersey, metropolitan New York, and New England.

Silberline Manufacturing Co. Inc. has promoted Glenn Kleppinger to senior vice president, Global Business Development, with responsibility for sales and marketing activities and mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Kleppinger joined Silberline, a supplier of effect pigments, 17 years ago and was most recently vice president, Global Market Development. Silberline also announced that Joseph P. Dowd has joined the company as executive vice president. Dowd was formerly director of Manufacturing, Dispersions and Paper Chemicals, with BASF.

U.S. Coatings Inc., St. Louis, has named James McCadden vice president, Sales, with responsibility for developing the company's sales force and expanding the company's sales, in addition to sales to key accounts. McCadden has more than 20 years' experience in sales, sales management and marketing, the company said. U.S. Coatings is a recently launched producer of protective coatings.

Greg Muselman has joined the Chemical Coatings Division of The Sherwin-Williams Co.'s Paint Stores Group as vice president of Technology. He will manage the technical operations of the Chemicals Coatings Division, including the A.W. Stuedel Technical Center in Chicago and facilities in Greensboro, NC, and Garland, TX. Muselman was formerly Technology director with Lilly Industries Inc., and managed laboratories in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Ireland, Mexico, Canada, and the United States. Before joining Lilly, he worked for The Valspar Corp. Sherwin-Williams' Chemical Coatings Division manufactures factory-applied coatings for wood, metal and plastic.

Reichhold Inc. announced several appointments in the company's Global Coatings leadership team. The appointments include Wolgang Regele as vice president of Global Marketing and general manager, Europe; G?nther Tappeiner as vice president of Global Technology; Hocutt Phillips as vice president of Global Operations; and Fritz Gartner as vice president of Global Sales. Regele was formerly vice president and general manager of Coatings Europe; Tappeiner was formerly site leader for Reichhold's Vienna facility; Phillips formerly held various management positions with International Paper Co.; and Gartner has held international sales positions with other companies in the chemical industry, most recently HCI Chemicals.

Douglas R. Silverman has joined Hoover Materials Handling Group Inc. as Marketing manager of the company's Asset Product Line and Rental business. Silverman was formerly an analyst with Textron Financial Corp. and a project manager with the Foundry Products Division of Ashland Chemical Co. Hoover Materials Handling, Alpharetta, GA, is a supplier of industrial packaging and services.

Shamrock Technologies Inc. has named Kurt Verstappen director of European operations at the company's new European headquarters in Tongeren, Belgium. Verstappen was formerly managing director of R. Stahl NV in Belgium and then in Houston. Shamrock is a supplier of micronized polytetrafluoroethylene and waxes.

Northwest Coatings Corp., Oak Creek, WI, has announced the promotions of Bill Walters to the new position of Materials manager, Troy Lisiecki to Production supervisor in the company's water-base plant, and Veronica Reichert to Sales representative in Wisconsin. Lisiecki, formerly a compounder in the water-base plant, succeeds Walters as Production supervisor. Reichert was formerly a Sales coordinator. Northwest Coatings is a manufacturer of UV-EB-cure and waterborne coatings and adhesives.
