Invitrogen completed its merger with Dexter and Life Technologies.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — Invitrogen Corp. completed its merger with Dexter Corp. and Life Technologies Inc., and Dexter announced the completion of the previously announced sale of its coatings business to Akzo Nobel. In separate deals, Dexter has sold its Electronic Materials, Adhesives and Polymers Systems, and Nonwovens Materials businesses.

Based in Waukegan, IL, Dexter’s coatings business also operates manufacturing facilities in Brownsville, TX, and Treviso, Italy. The business, which employs approximately 200 people, supplies coatings for the aerospace and automotive markets, and for other specialized uses.
