Rohm and Haas and ATOFINA announced an agreement under which the methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer capacity at Rohm and Haas’s plant in Deer Park, TX, will be expanded with the addition of 115,000 metric tons of annual manufacturing capacity in 2002.

Rohm and Haas Co., Philadelphia, and ATOFINA, Paris, announced an agreement under which the methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer capacity at Rohm and Haas’s plant in Deer Park, TX, will be expanded with the addition of 115,000 metric tons of annual manufacturing capacity in 2002. The facility is reported to be the largest MMA facility in the world, with current annual capacity of 360,000 metric tons. Rohm and Haas said the expansion will provide additional capacity to meet continued growth in its downstream acrylic polymer businesses and market demand for MMA. The companies said the majority of the new capacity will be allocated to ATOFINA, primarily for its acrylic sheet and resins (PMMA) business.
