The New Spin on Waterborne Coatings

April 9, 2007
As the market for performance pigments continues to rationalize, Sun Chemical Corporation is continuing its focus on consumers’ everyday business needs with a strong emphasis on customization and solution tailor-made objectives.

As the market for performance pigments continues to rationalize, Sun Chemical Corporation is continuing its focus on consumers’ everyday business needs with a strong emphasis on customization and solution tailor-made objectives. It’s the customer-centric focus that has propelled this company to the forefront in the high-performance pigment industry. As the trend in waterborne coatings becomes more prevalent in coatings manufacturing, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments has found a way to capture the new and innovative styling for waterborne coatings technology.

The Spin on the New Blue

Several new products have been launched to stimulate further innovation within the coatings market. Sun recently introduced a new coatings product, Tetrachlor Phthalocyanine Blue 15:1. Essential to automotive applications, the new Tetrachlor Palamar Automotive Blue 15:1 provides consumers with the ability to match solvent- and waterborne coatings. While it is exceptionally low in rheology it is highly chromatic, with a neutral flop in effect colors. The product is specifically for waterborne coatings.

Exceptional Transparency

A new perylene has also been added to the product line with the introduction of 229-8765 Perrindo® Maroon 179. Designed specifically for waterborne systems, this high-quality product has great transparency and dark undertone, providing a colorful formulator with versatility. The 229-8765 Perrindo Maroon 179 offers consumers an expanding scope and a fuller color range from blue to yellow.

Behind Sun Chemical Performance Pigments

Sun Chemical Performance Pigments continues to make efforts toward providing the latest cost-effective products to consumers. “Performance Pigments continues to make energy-efficient and quality-maximizing manufacturing changes,” says general manager Brian Leen. This is yet another step in Sun Chemical Performance Pigments’ approach toward putting the consumer first to drive valuable innovative products that remain economically sound, such as the Tetrachlor Phthalocyanine Blue 15:1 and 229-8801 Perrindo Maroon 179.

Sun Chemical Performance Pigments has been in the color business for over 100 years. Its leading-edge technology is unsurpassed as it continues its commitment to solving the color issues of today and developing new solutions for the future. Headquartered in Cincinnati, OH, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments is a division of Sun Chemical Corporation.
