The Pittsburgh Conference, Pittsburgh, announced its educational programs for science teachers and students, as well as grant award deadlines for its annual Science Week program held in conjunction with Pittcon® 2007, McCormick Place, Chicago. Science Week (February 24 - March 1, 2007) is an educational outreach program conducted during the annual Pittcon Expo and Conference in the host city. In addition to educational programs, Science Week offers workshops for students, a Thursday-morning lecture accompanied by a demonstration and workshops for local science teachers.

The specific award programs and application deadlines are as follows:

Pittcon® 2007 Science Education Award. Application deadline is October 31, 2006. Up to $25,000 will be awarded to a Greater Chicago Area or surrounding county educational institution, business or school district that submits the best proposal for furthering science education in the region.

Citation for Excellence in Teaching. Application deadline is November 22, 2007. Awards of $500 will be made to elementary, middle and high school teachers who demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in science education.

Science Equipment Grants. Application deadline is December 1, 2006. Awards of up to $500 in materials for elementary and middle schools and up to $1,000 in materials for high schools will be made for worthy proposals submitted by teachers or groups of teachers.
