CHICAGO - Velsicol Chemical Corp. announced the expansion of production capacity for the Benzoflex®, Admex® and Velate® product ranges at its Chestertown, MD, plant. The company plans to add 8,000 tons of new production capability beginning in the fourth quarter.
Velsicol is also in the planning process for a capacity expansion at its European manufacturing facility in Kohtle-Järve, Estonia. “The Estonian plant is ideally located to serve our customers in both Western and Eastern Europe,” says John Kenny, Vice President, Plastic Additives.
Earlier this year, Velsicol announced cessation of benzoic acid and benzoate ester production at their Chattanooga, TN, operation. Most of this production was moved to other Velsicol plants in the United States, Asia and Europe. In August 2006, Velsicol announced the formation of a joint venture to manufacture plasticizers in China.
