Solvay Chemicals Suspends Sulfur Surcharge on Sulfite Products
HOUSTON - As of Nov. 4, 2008, Solvay Chemicals Inc. has announced suspension of the August sulfur surcharge on its sulfite products. “With the recent drop in sulfur prices for fourth quarter 2008, the cost of sulfur has returned to the level needed to suspend the surcharge,” said Michael D. Wood, Business Manager, Sulfite Products.
“With this move, Solvay Chemicals stands by its commitment to eliminate the surcharge once sulfur prices decreased. Should sulfur prices rise again, we reserve the right to reinstate the surcharge program.”
