YPSILANTI, MI - The Coatings Research Institute of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI, is offering a one-day course, Understanding Coating Raw Materials, on April 30, 2010.
 
The course is designed for personnel engaged in coatings and related industries with job functions in product development, application, purchase, marketing and customer support. Entry-level chemists in technical, research and quality-assurance areas will benefit from the course.
 
Participants will learn about: raw materials, commercial grades and their specific role in coatings; raw materials and their selection criteria for waterborne, solvent-borne, UV-curable and powder coating systems; and cost reduction and optimization strategies. Participants will also learn about testing and evaluation methods of raw materials. The instructor for the course is Vijay Mannari, PhD.
