An innovative defoamer  launched by Cognis offers one of the best defoaming performances in paints with a VOC content of between zero and 100 grams per liter.

An innovative defoamer, Dehydran SE 2 launched by Cognis, offers one of the best defoaming performances in paints with a VOC content of between zero and 100 grams per liter. The defoamer itself is VOC-free (according to EU and U.S. standards) and contains very low levels of semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), in line with the strictest emission standards. The defoamer emulsion is based on a combination of patented hyper-branched polymers and organo-modified silicones, and is specifically designed for use in coatings with pro-environmental labeling. Dehydran SE 2 enables paint manufacturers to serve consumers’ demands for sustainable products while enhancing product performance.

The Dehydran defoamer range offers market-leading defoaming performance, excellent long-term efficiency, and outstanding compatibility in a wide range of applications. Cognis is now enhancing its existing portfolio by launching Dehydran SE 2, a high-performance defoamer for premium water-based paints and clear coats that is highly compatible, easy to handle and minimizes gloss reduction.

Providing optimum balance between compatibility and defoaming efficiency,

Dehydran SE 2 offers excellent foam suppression and long-term persistency in premium flat, mid-low PVC paints and clearcoats. Furthermore, it does not cause haze or fogging and minimizes gloss reduction.

A Genuine Green Defoamer Solution

Paula Gómez Perea, Senior Marketing Manager Coatings Europe, comments, “Dehydran SE 2 is the latest addition to our range of defoamers and we expect it to be a real success: various tests, including air entrainment, bubble break times, storage stability and sponge roller application tests, carried out with several coating systems have shown that Dehydran SE 2 offers the optimum balance between compatibility and defoaming persistency with minimized influence on gloss.”
