The Dow Chemical Co.has announced the startup of production at the company’s 41,000-metric-ton-per-year epoxy resin plant in China. The facility will produce solid epoxy resins for use primarily in powder coatings, solid solution epoxy resins for marine and protective liquid coatings and brominated epoxy resins for the production of electrical laminates. Markets for those end uses have experienced double-digit growth rates in China, the company says. The plant, near Shanghai, will supply resins to markets in China, other Asian countries and Australia. Dow also operates epoxy resin plants in Korea and Japan.

Epcon Industrial Systems LP (The Woodlands, TX) completed a turnkey order from the U.S. military for a drive-through paint finishing system that includes a wash-and-dry booth, two paint finishing booths and a paint storage compound. The custom system was manufactured at Epcon’s manufacturing facility in The Woodlands and then installed by Epcon.

X-Rite Inc. (Grandville, MI) has announced the appointment of Michael Ferrara to its board of directors and to the position of CEO. In addition to his new responsibilities, Ferrara will continue to serve as the company’s president. He joined the company as president in 2001.

Wagner Systems Inc. (Carol Stream, IL) has appointed Thomas Di Sieno to the position of president and chief operating officer—North America.

Thomas Gannon has joined Ferro Corp. Cleveland) as corporate vice president and chief financial officer, with responsibility for overall financial management of the company. He most recently was COO for Riverwood International Corp. and was previously the company’s chief financial officer and executive vice president.
