The Lubrizol Corp.'s Performance Coatings business is forming a new global Center of Excellence at its Ritterhude, Germany, facility, centralizing the research, testing, and production of surface-modifier technology for coatings and inks.
Michelman introduced metal coating formulators to the new family of ProHere™ water-based resinous binders that are suitable for a range of processing conditions and metallic substrates, and are used to enhance corrosion and chemical resistance, mechanical strength and adhesion.
The improvement in coating performance comes in part from the presence of the hardwearing nanodiamond particles integrated into the polymers, but there is also a change in the overall structure of the coating.
To comply with VOC regulations, coatings manufacturers have gradually moved away from conventional low-solids, solventborne systems to several emerging technologies, which include high-solids, UV, powder, waterborne and solvent-free systems.1-3
At Booth #2123, Michelman is featuring additives and surface modifiers that enhance the performance of paints and coatings for wood, nylon, rubber, leather and printed graphic arts materials.
