BARCELONA, Spain – Ferro, Mayfield Heights, OH, and Omya have extended their current distribution partnership in Austria and Switzerland for pigments used in coatings, construction, plastics, cosmetics and other industrial markets. The agreement became effective May 1, 2016.

In addition to the currently supplied heat-stable and weather-resistant complex inorganic color pigments (CICP) from Ferro, Omya is now also the distributor for a broad range of inorganic pigments resulting from the acquisition of Nubiola by Ferro on July 7, 2015. These include ultramarines, iron oxides, chrome oxide greens, corrosion inhibitors and bismuth vanadates.

Laurent Jeanne, Ferro’s North Europe Business Manager, commented, “Omya is the perfect choice for our distribution strategy in Switzerland and Austria. They have long been our strong CICP partners. We believe that the addition of the well-recognized and very complementary Nubiola brands to our partnership will reinforce our ties and contribute to continue providing excellent service to our customers in this highly demanding region.”

Omya ranks among the largest chemical distributors globally, serving more than 30,000 customers with 40 sales offices and 70 warehouses. Jeanne remarked, “Omya’s high focus on polymers and building materials fits very well with our market strategy. Our position as number-one ultramarines producer and strong supplier of zinc ferrites, specialty iron oxides and corrosion inhibitors adds high value to our product offering in such industries when combined with our CICP leading position.”
