PPG’s global coatings business includes paints, coatings and specialty materials for the aerospace, architectural, automotive OEM, automotive refinish, industrial, packaging, and protective and marine industries, along with coatings services. Through leadership in technology, sustainability and color, PPG helps customers in industrial, transportation, consumer products, and construction markets and aftermarkets enhance more surfaces in more ways than does any other company.

Full-year 2019 reported net sales from continuing operations were $15.1 billion, and adjusted earnings per diluted share grew 5% year-over-year to $6.22. Full-year reported net income from continuing operations was $1.2 billion. The company’s Performance Coatings segment (Aerospace, Architectural Coatings – Americas and Asia Pacific; Architectural Coatings – Europe, Middle East and Africa; Automotive Refinish; and Protective and Marine Coatings businesses) comprised 60% of net sales, and its Industrial Coatings segment (Automotive OEM Coatings, Coatings Services, Industrial Coatings, Packaging Coatings, and Specialty Coatings and Materials businesses) comprised 40% of net sales.

As part of its community engagement focus, PPG and the PPG Foundation invested nearly $12 million in 2019 to support hundreds of community organizations across 38 countries. Notes: PPG completed four acquisitions in 2019: Whitford Worldwide Co., a global manufacturer that specializes in low-friction coatings for industrial applications; Hemmelrath, a global manufacturer of coatings for automotive original equipment manufacturers; Dexmet Corp., a manufacturer of specialty materials for surfaces in aerospace, automotive and industrial applications; and Texstars LLC, a manufacturer of high-performance transparencies, wingtip lenses and plastic components for aerospace and defense vehicles, and a leader in advanced transparent coatings.
