Kraton Corporation has received its third ISCC PLUS certification for renewable polymers, this time for its Mailiao plant in Taiwan. The certification will allow the plant to produce the Cirkular+™ ReNew Series, which is part of Kraton’s broader effort to support the circular economy.

The Mailiao plant is a joint venture between Kraton and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation. It is the first Kraton manufacturing facility in Asia to receive ISCC PLUS certification. The plant will now be able to produce up to 100% ISCC PLUS-certified renewable styrenic block copolymers (SBC) using the mass balance approach. This includes the use of ISCC PLUS-certified butadiene, styrene and isoprene.

Kraton’s Cirkular+™ ReNew Series is designed to offer a more sustainable alternative to traditional fossil-based polymers. The series includes a range of ISCC PLUS-certified renewable polymers that can be used in a variety of applications. By using renewable feedstocks, the Cirkular+™ ReNew Series can help reduce the carbon footprint of the end products.

In addition to the Cirkular+™ ReNew Series, Kraton also offers the Cirkular+™ Compatibilization Series and Performance Enhancement Series. These series are designed to support the use of recycled and renewable materials in the production of high-performance plastics.

Kraton’s Mailiao plant is now one of three Kraton manufacturing facilities to receive ISCC PLUS certification. The company’s other certified facilities are located in Europe and North America.

ISCC PLUS is a global certification system for the sustainable production of bio-based and recycled materials. The certification is based on a set of environmental, social and economic criteria.

Kraton produces specialty polymers and high-value performance products. The company’s products are used in a wide range of applications, including adhesives, coatings and consumer goods.
