Brazil’s Paint and Coatings Market Reports Strong Growth in 2024
The Brazilian paint and coatings market experienced a strong year in 2024, reaching a record 1.983 billion liters sold, a 6.0% increase from the previous year. The growth exceeded the 5.7% rate recorded in 2021, previously considered an outlier.
All product lines saw gains, with automotive OEM coatings leading at 9.7% growth, driven by increased automobile sales. Decorative paints also performed well, growing 5.9% to 1.490 billion liters, supported by consumer confidence and home improvement trends. Industrial coatings rose 6.3%, benefiting from strong consumer durable sales and infrastructure projects. Automotive refinish coatings increased 3.6%, partly due to higher demand in the used car market.
For 2025, Abrafati forecasts a slower growth rate of 2.0% to 2.5% for the industry.
