PPG Marks 10 Years of Colorful Communities with Hilden School Refresh

PPG announced the completion of a Colorful Communities® project at the Allgemeinbildende Walter-Wiederhold-Schule in Hilden. Thirty employees from PPG sites in Hilden and Bochum worked with community volunteers and the City of Hilden to repaint interior spaces for more than 70 students and about 20 teachers and staff. PPG provided a $51,000 grant and 450 liters of Sigma Coatings® paints, including Resist Clean Matt, which is EU Ecolabel certified for high-traffic environments. The color concept, developed with teachers, included PPG’s Color of the Year 2026, “Secret Safari,” a muted honeydew green. The project added a mural concept by Nasim Rienas inspired by “Friedensbrücke” visuals that support constructive conflict resolution. “This initiative shows how cooperation between the city, local partners and companies like PPG can make a visible and lasting difference for our schools and for our children,” said Claus Pommer, Mayor of Hilden. PPG noted the program’s 10-year milestone, with nearly 600 projects delivered in more than 50 countries and additional celebration grants planned.
