Carboline released Thermo-Sorb HB, a two-component, high-build elastomeric intumescent coating designed for field or shop application on structural steel. The solvent-based coating cures quickly and reaches weather resistance in one hour, supporting accelerated construction schedules. It is rated for up to 3.5 hours of fire resistance on qualifying designs and meets or exceeds UL/ULC 263, ASTM E119, and CAN/ULC-S101 standards.

Thermo-Sorb HB includes Optifire® traceability technology, allowing inspectors and owners to verify the coating’s presence from wet film through service life and after a fire. Carboline states that this traceability helps ensure warranty protection and performance assurance throughout installation and project completion.
