Arkema Expands Global Coverage of ISCC+ Certified Resin Facilities

rkema announced that its specialty polyester resins produced at the company’s Gissi, Italy facility have achieved ISCC+ certification as part of its global mass balance roadmap. With the addition of the Gissi site, all of Arkema’s Advanced Liquid Resins facilities worldwide are now ISCC+ certified across acrylic, polyester, alkyd and polyamide technologies.
According to the company, the certification supports customers that are implementing more sustainable solutions for polyurethane systems used in construction adhesives, packaging and automotive applications. Facilities included in the certified network span Europe, the United States and Asia.
“This announcement marks a considerable milestone for Arkema as all of our Advanced Liquid Resins facilities worldwide, acrylics, polyesters, alkyds and polyamides, are now ISCC+ certified,” said Franck Charrier, global business director advanced liquid and powder resins. “The certification in Gissi brings us closer to our overall target to improve how products are made and support industry-wide goals related to carbon footprint reduction.”
The ISCC+ certification process applies a mass balance methodology to verify that bio-attributed or recycled feedstocks have replaced an equivalent amount of fossil-based raw materials at the start of the supply chain. Arkema stated that the certifications support a wider portfolio of bio-attributed specialty resins and additives, including high solids, waterborne, UV-LED-EB and polyester powder materials.
