Zinc Carbonate Prices Ease as Coatings Demand Slows

In a market report by ChemAnalyst, U.S. zinc carbonate prices softened in November amid weaker demand across downstream industries, including reduced purchasing activity tied to paint and coatings.
ChemAnalyst attributed the decline to cautious late-year procurement behavior, with buyers prioritizing inventory management as construction-related demand remained muted. The report noted that zinc carbonate is used in certain coatings formulations, making coatings sector buying patterns one factor that can influence demand.
ChemAnalyst also pointed to improving logistics conditions that supported steadier material availability and encouraged more competitive supplier offers aimed at maintaining sales volumes. The report added that inventory destocking further weighed on near-term demand as market participants took a more cautious approach amid broader industrial uncertainty.
Looking ahead, ChemAnalyst said longer-term demand remains supported by zinc carbonate use across multiple industrial applications. Near-term conditions were described as stable to slightly bearish absent a meaningful pickup in downstream demand.
