Paint Zero Introduces Screening Tool for Paint Film Degradation

Paint Zero Limited has launched a DIY Microplastics Audit designed to help evaluate whether aging interior paint films may be degrading and releasing microplastic fragments over time.
According to the company, the screening tool is intended for use in residential and institutional settings and focuses on conventional paint systems that rely on synthetic polymer binders. The audit is positioned as an initial assessment step rather than a laboratory-based analytical test.
The company said the audit launch coincides with increased attention on microplastics across materials and manufacturing sectors. Paint Zero’s mineral-based interior coating technology is referenced as an alternative approach that eliminates synthetic polymer binders commonly used in conventional paints.
Paint Zero previously received a patent related to its mineral and plant-based binder system. The company supplies its coatings as a dry powder mixed with water prior to application and packaged to reduce transport and packaging waste.
The audit is expected to be made available globally beginning January 21, 2026.
