Sherwin-Williams General Industrial Introduces New Color Trend Forecast

The company announced the launch of SHIFT, a new industrial color trend forecast highlighting 18 emerging colors.
Sherwin-Williams General Industrial announced the launch of SHIFT, its latest industrial color trend forecast for the Colormix® Foresight program. The report highlights 18 colors expected to shape industrial design and finishes over the next three to five years.
According to the company, SHIFT is intended to support manufacturers and designers navigating multi-year product development cycles by providing forward-looking guidance grounded in global research and cultural analysis.
“SHIFT explores how color tells a story shaped by culture, emotion and the evolution of values,” said Kiki Redhead, global color, material, finish and trend manager at the Sherwin-Williams DesignHouse. “Our color experts combine research, analytics and industry expertise to uncover these narratives and identify a forward-looking vision of color’s role in the world around us.”
The Colormix Foresight program is led by Sherwin-Williams’ Trendsight Team and draws on global trend analysis, cultural insights and external drivers to identify future color directions. The company said the program serves as an educational and inspirational resource, offering data-backed insights to support proactive design decisions.
SHIFT examines three thematic lenses influencing color direction: mindset, reflecting long-held beliefs and values; mindstate, addressing emotional responses to the world; and makeshift, where decision-making and action intersect. These themes are supported by 18 curated colors positioned to influence the industrial market.
Sherwin-Williams DesignHouse, based in Minneapolis, offers workshops and trend forecast experiences to help manufacturers bring new colors and products to market efficiently.
