Epoxy In-Mould Gelcoat Supports Faster Wind Blade Production

AkzoNobel introduced its International® RELEST® Wind EP Process Coat, an epoxy in-mold gelcoat designed for wind blade manufacturing. The solvent-free, amine-cured formulation eliminates isocyanates and supports improved health and safety during application.
The coating enables application at mold temperatures up to 50 °C, reducing cooling time and supporting faster production cycles. It also helps minimize pin-holing, reducing the need for additional finishing work and improving surface quality.
The product is designed to reduce equipment cleaning, limit material waste and simplify coating processes between blade sections. It has been validated through laboratory and field trials and is intended for use in high-volume production environments.
