Sherwin-Williams Expands Coil Coatings Capacity

The Sherwin-Williams Company announced the completion of a major expansion at its coil coatings manufacturing plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, aimed at supporting growth in metal roofing, construction and OEM markets.
The company upgraded the 32-year-old facility with advanced automation, increased batch capabilities and expanded production capacity. The expansion increases overall capacity by 60% compared to 2025 levels and enables larger batch production.
Sherwin-Williams said enhanced automation will improve formulation accuracy, reduce defects, increase consistency and support shorter lead times for customers.
The Bowling Green facility produces polyester coil coatings for interior and moderate exterior applications, including lighting fixtures, appliances, garage doors and building products. It also manufactures siliconized modified polyester coatings designed for exterior environments requiring UV resistance, gloss retention and long-term weatherability.
Company officials said the expansion is intended to strengthen supply chain resilience, improve operational flexibility and support growing demand across the coatings market.
