ystral Expands Customer Testing Capabilities at German Headquarters

ystral has opened a new trial center at its headquarters in Ballrechten-Dottingen, Germany, expanding its capacity for customer testing, process development and operator training.
The approximately 150-square-meter facility allows the mixing and dispersing technology company to conduct more trials while processing a broader range of raw materials. It supports customers in the chemical, paint and coatings, food, pharmaceutical, household and cosmetics industries, as well as battery production.
PCI previously reported in 2025 that ystral was constructing the center to expand its testing capacity and accommodate hazardous-media trials.
According to the company, several tests have already been completed in the new building. One trial conducted for a printing ink manufacturer resulted in an equipment order valued at several million euros.
“Our experience shows that tests carried out in our trial center almost always lead to collaboration,” said Uwe Klaumünzner, head of development and trials at ystral.
The facility complies with applicable explosion- and water-protection requirements, and its equipment is ATEX-compliant. Testing involving flammable or explosive materials may be conducted following an individual assessment.
Customers can attend trials on-site or follow them remotely through livestream video.
Samples produced during testing can be evaluated in ystral’s laboratory using optical microscopy, density measurement, dynamic light-scattering particle-size analysis and multiple viscosity-measurement methods. The laboratory can also record viscosity curves at different shear rates and temperatures.
The trial building was constructed and commissioned in just under 12 months. Its compact design allows ystral to add a second testing building on an adjacent site as demand grows.
“At our current company size, we are very well positioned with our existing trial facilities,” said Peter Manke, managing director and co-owner of ystral. “However, we planned our new trial center from the outset in such a way that expansion is possible.”
