Tioxide Materials Ltd. has restarted titanium dioxide pigment production at its Greatham facility in Hartlepool, U.K., after four months of commissioning, testing and maintenance.
Single-stream operation is underway, and the company has begun a phased ramp-up toward full operational capacity by early 2027. The site had been idled in the fourth quarter of 2025 before LB Group acquired the facility and associated TiO2 pigment assets earlier this year.
The Greatham facility has total nameplate capacity of 150,000 metric tons of TiO2 pigment annually. Tioxide said TIOXIDE and DELTIO products are beginning to return to market for coatings, plastics and inks applications. Production is supported by the company’s research and development center in Wynyard and commercial and business support teams in Stockton-on-Tees.
PCI reported earlier this month that Tioxide had added more than 60 employees and expected single-stream production to resume during August.
The restart returns a major source of TiO2 pigment capacity to the European and global coatings supply chain. Follow PCI’s paint and coating pigments coverage for developments affecting pigment production, supply and pricing.
