Eastman Raises Solvent and Acetyl Prices in the Americas
Eastman will increase prices for several solvent and acetyl products in North America and Latin America beginning Oct. 1, or as contracts allow.
Eastman Ethyl Acetate, Urethane Grade will increase $0.04/lb., or $0.09/kg. Food Grade, Food Grade Kosher and NF/EP grades are excluded from the increase.
Eastman separately announced increases of $0.04/lb., or $0.09/kg, for glacial acetic acid and $0.05/lb., or $0.11/kg, for acetic anhydride in North America and Latin America.
All three adjustments take effect Oct. 1 or as existing contracts allow.
Eastman did not state a reason for the increases. The company’s public notices therefore do not attribute the adjustments to feedstock, energy, freight or other cost factors.
Ethyl acetate is used as a solvent in coatings, inks and other formulations, while acetic acid and acetic anhydride serve as chemical intermediates across multiple manufacturing markets.

The adjustments matter to formulators following solvents because ethyl acetate is used in coatings and related applications, while acetyl-chain pricing can affect broader coatings raw-material economics.
