ACA Opens Nominations for 2027 Mattiello Lecture Award

The American Coatings Association is accepting nominations for the 2027 Joseph J. Mattiello Lecture Award, which recognizes technical contributions to the paint and coatings industry.
Nominations and supporting materials must be received by Dec. 2, 2026, for consideration by the Mattiello Memorial Lecturer Award Committee.
The selected recipient will deliver a 50- to 55-minute technical presentation during ACA's CoatingsTech Conference, scheduled for March 15-18 in Kansas City, Missouri. The presentation may address chemistry, engineering or another discipline fundamental to paints, coatings, varnishes, lacquers and related protective and decorative coatings. A completed paper will also be required for the conference proceedings and ACA publications.
The committee evaluates nominees based on technical accomplishment, service to the coatings industry and leadership. Eligible accomplishments may include publications and patents, inventions and discoveries, new scientific insights, novel product applications and improvements to resin or coatings manufacturing processes.
Self-nominations are not permitted. Applications must include the nominee's professional and educational background, a description of qualifying accomplishments and at least two supporting letters.
The award honors Joseph J. Mattiello, who helped advance the application of science in decorative and protective coatings.
