EU Publishes AkzoNobel-Axalta Merger Notification
The European Commission has formally published notification of the proposed AkzoNobel-Axalta combination under Case M.12269 — AKZONOBEL / AXALTA.
According to the official EU notice, the Commission received notification Sept. 17 under the EU Merger Regulation. The filing identifies Akzo Nobel N.V. and Axalta Coating Systems Ltd. and describes the proposed transaction as a merger within the meaning of the regulation.
The publication does not represent European Commission clearance.
AkzoNobel and Axalta shareholders approved the proposed combination in August. PCI has continued tracking the transaction’s regulatory process, including the U.K. review and anticipated European Commission notification.
Regulatory approval remains one of the key conditions facing a proposed combination that would reshape the top tier of the global coatings manufacturers market.
