Color-Matching Software Combines Formulation, Opacity and Batch Correction

Konica Minolta launched SpectraMagic CMS color-matching software for coatings, plastics and other color-critical industries. The platform combines formulation calculations and batch correction with data from compatible portable and benchtop spectrophotometers.
The software supports opaque and translucent colors, simultaneous calculation of color and hiding power, and correction based on measured pigment behavior. The company says laboratory and production sample data can be incorporated to refine matching and reduce repeated formulation trials.
SpectraMagic CMS connects with SpectraMagic NX2 quality-control software. Konica Minolta also provides a Colour Help Desk for laboratory and production formulation support.
The technical specification includes calculations that account for binder color and film thickness, automatic base selection, use of leftover materials and formulation-history management. A local Delta E function supports difficult color matches. Users can export reports as PDFs and data in CxF format.
Both Full and Standard versions support formulation, correction, leftover-material management, databases and history-based data use. Colorant definition and user management are listed for the Full version.
Published system requirements include Windows 11 Pro, at least 8 GB of memory, 20 GB of free storage and PostgreSQL 15 or later. Konica Minolta recommends at least 16 GB of memory. Instrument compatibility and firmware requirements should be checked for the intended installation.

Integrating formulation, correction and quality-control data can support more consistent use of coatings equipment and software across laboratory and production workflows.
