PPG Paint Films JV Expands Distribution, Adds Saint-Gobain Products

PPG's Advanced Surface Technologies joint venture with Entrotech is expanding distribution of PPG Stream paint protection film and adding products from Saint-Gobain to its portfolio.
PPG Stream film will now be offered through participating members of the PPG Platinum Distributor Network. Members of that network previously focused on PPG paint lines.
The joint venture also reached a distribution agreement with Saint-Gobain that adds Solar Gard Automotive Window Tint, Clearshield Windshield Protection Films and the ComputerCut film-cutting system.
PPG Stream is a multilayer film in which at least one layer is made from paint. PPG says the technology provides performance, aesthetic and application benefits similar to liquid coatings while eliminating the need for a paint booth during film application. The company also says the application process eliminates VOC emissions and hazardous waste associated with spray application.
The film is used primarily in passenger vehicles, although PPG sees potential in commercial vehicles and other markets.
The Saint-Gobain products broaden the joint venture's offering from paint protection film into window tint, windshield protection and digital film-cutting tools.
Greg Booth, CEO of PPG Advanced Surface Technologies, said the expanded distributor network is intended to make the film available to more customers while supporting continued growth in the vehicle-film market.
