The International Coatings Expo (ICE) will take place November 4-7 at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event takes place in conjunction with the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology's 79th Annual Meeting and the International Coatings Technology Conference.

The exposition features the products and services of supplier companies to the international coatings, printing inks, adhesives, and construction chemicals industries. Nearly 300 companies are expected to exhibit at the exposition, and 16 courses and 61 presentations will be featured.

FSCT Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5-6 at the Georgia World Congress Center. This year's theme is "Implementing Change."

Winnik to Present Mattiello Lecture

Dr. Mitchell Winnik, university professor at the University of Toronto, has been named to present the Joseph J. Mattiello Lecture during the FSCT's 79th Annual Meeting. The lecture will be given as part of the organization's Opening Session on Monday, Nov. 5.

Winnik is known for his studies of synthetic polymers at the molecular level and the application of fluorescence spectroscopy to polymer systems. His research has embraced a spectrum of novel techniques. He was the first to use atomic force microscopy in studies of film formation from latex dispersions, and the first to use laser fluorescence microscopy in the study of polymer blends. He has authored more than 400 technical papers and holds 12 patents.

Penny to Receive Heckel Award

Colin D. Penny, president of Coatings Technology Ltd., is this year's recipient of the George Baugh Heckel Award, the organization's highest honor.

The award will be presented at the Opening Session of the Annual Meeting on Nov. 5.

President of the FSCT from 1992-93, Penny is a member of the FSCT Board of Directors. He also served on the organization's Building Committee from 1989-1991. This group was responsible for selecting the site and directing the building of the current FSCT headquarters. In his current role as director of the International Relations Committee, Penny has played a major role in the development of cooperative efforts between the FSCT and Latin American organizations.

David P. Jack, Richard M. Hille Nominated to Officer Positions

David P. Jack, Technical Coatings Co. Ltd., and Richard M. Hille, The Flood Co., have been named to officer positions for 2001-2002.

Jack has been nominated to serve as president-elect of the organization. Jack, a technical sales representative with Technical Coatings Co. Ltd., Burlington, Ontario, Canada, is currently secretary-treasurer and serves on the organization's Executive Committee. He has been the Toronto Society Director to the FSCT Board of Directors since 1996, and also served as a member of the Organization Restructure Task Force. In addition, he is a member of the Bylaws Task Force and the Professional Development and Operating Committees.

Richard M. Hille, VP, Operations, of The Flood Co., Hudson, OH, has been nominated to serve as secretary-treasurer, and is currently a member of the organization's Executive Committee, at-large director of the Board of Directors, and vice president and trustee of the CIEF. He has served as Chair of several of the organization's committees, and was a charter member of the Professional Development Committee, serving from 1984-1990. Hille received the President's Award in 1993.

ICE 2002 is scheduled to take place Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2002, in New Orleans
