Urecoats Industries Inc., a manufacturer of sealant and coating products partially made from recycled material and initially targeting the roofing industry, has named Ronald E. Clark to the newly created position of vice president of Operations. Clark was formerly vice president of Centimark Corp., Canonsburg, PA, a major commercial roofing contractor. He will direct Urecoats' expansion strategy, which will initially focus on new markets in the southeastern United States, the company said. Urecoats Industries operates subsidiaries involved in the development, production, and application of roofing and waterproofing coatings and sealants. The company's flagship product, Urecoats RSM-100, is based on polymers and rubber from recycled tires. The product is spray-applied hot and cures as it bonds to the application surface, the company said.

The Pigments Division of Rockwood Specialties has named Michael Corcoran vice president of Sales for Coatings and Specialties, with responsibility for all activities of the division's sales force and agents. Corcoran was formerly business director, Pigments, at BASF.

Dorsett & Jackson has promoted Tony Di Giacomo to vice president of Sales. He joined Dorsett & Jackson in 1978 and was most recently responsible for the company's Pacific Northwest sales territory.

The J.H. Calo Co. Inc., a chemical-distribution company based in Westbury, NY, has named Bruce Dolimount Territory manager for New England. Dolimount formerly worked for Chemcentral Corp. and Ashland Chemical Co., and also was an owner of Custom Chemical.

Jay Hamilton and Ignazio "Sonny" DiGirolamo have joined Hockmeyer Equipment Corp. as regional sales managers. Hamilton, named Northeast Regional Sales manager, is responsible for a territory that includes Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and a portion of New York. Hamilton was formerly a process engineering manager with Kodak Polychrome Graphics. DiGirolamo, appointed Southeast Regional Sales manager, is responsible for a sales territory that includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. DiGirolamo was formerly Southwest Regional Sales manager for DeZurik.

Bo Krigsman has been named vice president, Finance, of Tikkurila Oy, effective Dec. 1. He is currently director with responsibility for financial operations for Alcro-Beckers' businesses in Poland, and formerly was vice president, Finance, for the Alcro-Beckers Group. Tikkurila is the coatings unit of Kemira Oy of Finland.

Wes Lucas, formerly president of Nova Chemicals Corp.'s Styrenics Division and a vice president at AlliedSignal Corp., has joined Sun Chemical Corp. as president. Henri Dyner retains the position of CEO, the company said. Lucas has held a series of management and executive positions with several major companies, including Chevron Corp., McKinsey & Co., and Nova Chemicals. Most recently, he was the founder, Chairman and CEO of OpenWebs Corp., which merged with BTN to form a supplier of software for private networks and industry exchanges. Sun Chemical is a major manufacturer of printing ink and organic pigments.

Degussa Corp. has named Walter Magee Marketing manager for the company's Aerosil fumed silica product line. He was formerly Industry manager of Release Coatings Markets for Wacker Silicones.

Paul Meli, president of Industrial Environmental Coatings Corp. and an innovator in the development of 100%-solids epoxy formulations, announced his retirement from day-to-day responsibilities with the company. Meli will remain a member of the company's board of directors and will serve as a consultant for new-product development, the company said. He has been involved in the formulation of 100%-solids, rapid-cure epoxy technology for nearly 50 years, and has helped develop epoxy coatings and linings for home heating oil tanks and underground and above-ground fuel storage tanks. Andy R. House, former vice president/general manager of the company, has been named president and CEO. He has 35 years of experience in the industry with Devoe Coatings, the company said.

Roberto Robotti has joined Cytec Industries Inc. as regional director, Europe, Coating and Performance Chemicals, with responsibility for developing and implementing a regional strategy for coatings and performance chemicals in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Robotti formerly held a series of management positions with General Electric Co., including European Commercial director of GE's Specialty Chemicals and Plastics business. Most recently, he was GE's managing director, Italy.

Degussa Corp.'s Coatings and Colorants Business Unit named Bruce Seeber general manager of Resins, with responsibility for management of all activities of the resins business line in the NAFTA region, including production, sales, marketing, and technical service. Seeber was formerly National Sales manager, Methacrylate Monomers & Polymers, for Degussa's R¿M America Inc. division. He previously was Coatings Raw Materials Distribution manager for the company's CREANOVA Inc. division.

Powder Technology Inc., a powder-coatings manufacturer based in Schofield, WI, has promoted Paul Stomieroski to Technical director and named Paul Pettit Jr. director of Strategic Technology. Stomieroski joined Powder Technology in 1992 as a senior chemist, and has been instrumental in the development of new and customized products, the company said. Before joining Powder Technology, he worked for Morton Powder Coatings. Pettit was formerly global director of Technology at PPG Powder Coatings, and also has held positions with DuPont Co. and Akzo Nobel.

Mark Thesken has joined Hunter Associates Laboratory Inc. as a sales representative in Ohio, Michigan and portions of Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Thesken has previously held sales and product-development positions. HunterLab is a supplier of color and appearance measurement instruments and programs.
