ZURICH, Switzerland - DKSH, Zurich, Switzerland, has acquired Dasico A/S, based in Birkerod, Denmark, a specialty chemicals distributor to the Scandinavian countries.
The acquisition will strengthen DKSH’s Performance Materials business unit in northern Europe and offers further growth potential for joint customers and suppliers. Dasico A/S holds a 50 percent share in Agrofert-Norden A/S, which is a joint venture with the Agrofert-Holding, the leading Czech supplier to the chemical, agricultural and food industries.
Dasico A/S and Agrofert-Norden A/S have been serving the Scandinavian markets for decades and now enable DKSH to access the territories of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. In those markets, DKSH will be serving over 150 additional customers in the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, agrochemical, and specialty chemical industries through its global sourcing network and industry expertise.
DKSH and Voltas Ltd., the Indian air conditioning and engineering services firm and member of the Tata Group, have agreed to the transfer of Voltas' Chemicals Trading Division to DKSH India Pvt., Ltd.
With this acquisition, DKSH strengthens the position of its Performance Materials business unit in India at a time when its European and American clients are looking to this buoyant, emerging market for growth in a declining global economy. Through seven offices in the major Indian industrial centers of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Secunderabad, DKSH will be serving over 500 customers in the coatings, construction, cosmetics, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, plastics, and specialty chemicals industries with tailor-made solutions for their specific applications. The Performance Materials business unit draws on a global sourcing network that taps over 4,000 suppliers in 68 markets.
