HORGEN, Switzerland -- Dow Coating Materials, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Co. dedicated to innovation in the paint and coatings industry, presented a paper entitled “Next-Generation Surfactants for Environmental Regulations in Architectural Applications” at the 19th Annual SLF Congress in Sandefjord, Norway.

The paper was presented by Luis Madrigal and highlighted the development of novel surfactants allowing coating formulators to more easily comply with existing and upcoming European Union environmental regulations. It describes Dow’s development of a new surfactant exhibiting equivalent or better dispersing properties than traditional APE-based products. The paper also demonstrated how the use of high-through-put formulation and testing allows the exploration of a wide formulation space for the evaluation of new additives for coatings.
