DuPont and United States Steel Corp. announced an expansion to the Coastalume™ product line, adding five new colors to the steel roofing solution designed for coastal environments.
Originally launched in 2024, Coastalume is engineered for high-performance durability in hurricane- and fire-prone regions. The new palette includes crisp whites, warm browns and peaceful blues, joining existing options such as Dawn Gray, Matte Black and Dark Bronze. The additions reflect current roofing trends and arrive in time for the 2025 summer building season.
Developed in partnership by DuPont™ Tedlar® and U.S. Steel, Coastalume offers resistance to salt spray, chalking and color fade. The product features a non-PFAS Tedlar finish and a recyclable steel substrate. Contractors report that the material installs easily, handles on-site roll-forming without issue and meets customer expectations for longevity and aesthetics.
The expanded colors debuted at the Florida Roofing & Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) show in Kissimmee, Florida, where both companies showcased samples and case studies.
“Our expanded palette of colors was very well received in Florida,” said Stephen Thompson, regional sales manager at U.S. Steel. “Coastalume’s resistance to coastal elements continues to drive new conversations in roofing.”
