Syensqo Salutes 2025 Chemistry Laureates

Syensqo congratulated Professors Susumu Kitagawa and Omar Yaghi on receiving the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, awarded with Richard Robson for foundational work on metal–organic frameworks. The company noted that both scientists are past recipients of the biennial Ernest Solvay Prize, which recognizes discoveries with potential to shape the chemistry of tomorrow. Kitagawa received the prize in 2017, and Yaghi in 2024.
“We are thrilled to congratulate Professors Susumu Kitagawa and Omar Yaghi on this well-deserved recognition. Their pioneering work in reticular chemistry is transforming materials science and driving solutions for sustainability and the energy transition. Their achievement perfectly reflects Syensqo’s purpose: to push the limits of science for the benefit of humanity,” said Dr. Ilham Kadri, CEO of Syensqo.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences cited the development of metal–organic frameworks, porous crystalline materials built from metal ions and organic linkers, among the contributions honored by this year’s prize.
Syensqo said it will host the next Science for the Future Ernest Solvay Prize on March 10, 2026, in Brussels.
