Silicone Primer Targets Difficult Epoxy Bonding Applications

Boston Industrial Solutions has introduced Citrine® CEP-240 Silicone Primer, a surface treatment formulated to bond liquid silicone rubber to epoxy and other difficult substrates.
The primer is designed to promote permanent adhesion between liquid silicone rubber and epoxy resins, metals, ceramics and glass. It can also be used with subsequently vulcanized solid and liquid silicone elastomers, including HCR, HTV and peroxide-cured systems.
Once cured, CEP-240 forms a rigid silicone-resin film that helps protect the bonded interface against moisture and weather exposure. The high-solids formulation can be diluted with organic solvents to meet application requirements.
Reported properties include:
- Shear strength of 11 kg/cm²
- Temperature tolerance from -60 °C to 180 °C
- Breakdown voltage of 30 kV/cm² with a 4-mm silicone sleeve
- Chemical and environmental resistance
- Smooth, consistent application characteristics
The primer is intended for industrial, manufacturing and specialty applications where long-term silicone adhesion and durability are required.
